The central question of this chapter, at least for me, is: Is Tsurugi genuinely starting to care for Oriyama-san, or is it all part of some grand scheme? He's certainly showing signs of...something. Moments of unexpected kindness, protectiveness, even a hint of jealousy. But, come on, this is Tsurugi we're talking about. He's basically a master manipulator in a designer suit. Can we really trust anything he does?

And that's what makes it so compelling! We're constantly questioning his motives. Is he playing a game? Is he growing? Is he just...a complex character with more layers than an onion? (An expensive, well-dressed onion, mind you.)

Oriyama-san's Growth (Or Lack Thereof?)

Oriyama-san's naivete can be a little frustrating, I'm not going to lie. She's definitely the "kodomo" of the title, even if she is technically a "miseinen" (minor). But there are also glimmers of resilience, of a growing awareness that things aren't as simple as she initially thought. She's starting to understand the implications of her situation, even if she doesn't fully grasp the depths of Tsurugi's machinations. I'm rooting for her! I want to see her stand up for herself and maybe, just maybe, call Tsurugi out on his BS.

Side note: The art in this chapter is particularly gorgeous. The expressions are so well-rendered, and you can really feel the emotions radiating off the page. Kudos to the artist!
