For instance, scenes meant to highlight Subaru's social awkwardness feel more like tired tropes than genuine character exploration. The "healing through cat" narrative, while comforting, treads well-worn ground. Other anime have tackled similar themes with more nuance and depth. Consider the gentle parallel between Subaru and the stray kitten’s own loneliness.
